On-topic, I think one of the older admins once said that if you could get a clear shot and if you were able to kill the hostage-taker immediatly, you could shoot him. You just had to make sure that there was no way that the hostage could get hurt (so no other hostage-takers nearby)
Yeah sure, but I've seen people get punished for these kinds of actions, which gives me mixed feelings about this.
