Hello everyone. The purpose of this thread is to explain the rules plus other things since a lot of people aren't sure of what is and what isn't against the rules. Such as what does "Semi-Serious" mean, since a lot of people don't really understand the concept.
First of all, what does "Semi-Serious" mean? A lot of people seem to think that the RolePlay is meant to be "Semi-Serious", and not Serious RP. This is completely wrong.
Semi-Serious means that the GameMode is Semi-Serious. You must always RP seriously. In CityRP you can be any job you like (Except SS if you haven't donated), you respawn after dying, you can buy weapons easily, manufacture contraband, etc. You also get a salary every 5 minutes. People's names, job, description and so on can be seen with a floating text infront of them.
People can also get food easily. You can manufacture items by just "Pressing a button". This is why, amongst other things, the server is "Semi-Serious". This is meant for people to RP more easily and introduce people to RolePlaying.
Explaining some rules in detail.
[General Rules]
A request should not contain things like "Admin come" "Help", etc. An example of a useful @ Request is for example "My car is stuck under the ground, could you please help me?". By telling us what the problem is, we can prioritize. For example, if we have two @ requests, one's about someone prop killing people and another one is about someone stuck on a roof, we will go to the prop killer first.
This means that you must ALWAYS live up to your side of the deal. For example, if you're selling a car, a gun or providing a service. If you charge someone for protecting them and then leave, it count's as Scamming.
It is forbidden to take action against a person for breaking the rules. For example, if you see someone breaking NLR, you are not allowed to kill them just because of that. Neither punch them, tell them you're going to ban them or anything similar. You may only tell them (In OOC), that they are breaking a rule.
Fear RP is one of the most broken rules. It is fairly easy to understand but a lot of people ignore it.
Some people don't know if for example a knife has anything to do with Fear RP. Melee weapons, such as Knives and Crowbars, don't have to enforce Fear RP, unless the guy /me's that he has the knife on your throat, for example.
Tazers DO enforce Fear RP. You wouldn't run from thousands of volts, would you?
When handcuffed if the officers have a tazer or weapon out you must obey their orders. You wouldn't run from Police when handcuffed, it would only get you a bigger sentence.
This means that you cannot call people nigg*rs, f*gs, or anything similar. Also you can't say that black people should die, for example. It doesn't just have to be insults, it can also be racist/homophobic sentences and so on.
[OOC and IC Rules]
If you wish to talk in OOC, locally, use .// TEXT . For anything that your character shouldn't know or doesn't involve your character, use OOC. For example, asking what prop to use is OOC, asking what to eat, is IC.
This is also one of the most broken rules. If you die during a raid, you must not return to the place of the raid until it's over. Whether it's 5 minutes or 20 minutes. You must wait.
Very important. You cannot kill a person for just punching you, for insulting you, for ramming your car, for threatening you or for anything that doesn't consist a real threat. You can kill someone only if it's a very good reason, like in real life. Even though in real life there are people who will kill someone for something stupid, this isn't an excuse to kill someone for not leaving your house, for example.
For example, as a rebel even if you are raiding you cannot shoot down an officer because he's in the Nexus, unless he's got a weapon or represents a threat. You cannot kill or shoot an officer because he's near your base either.
[Tools/Props Rules]
Public area is considered anything that any person can access. For example: Roads, BP, Walkways, etc.
Do not use your Physgun as a laser pointer, only use it to build. Do not walk around with your toolgun and do not spawn props near people just for the sake of it. Use these tools for building only.
[Door Rules]
This means that keypads/buttons need to be right next to the door it opens. You cannot have several fake keypads/buttons, just the one.
[Job Rules]
This goes for all jobs. For example:
SS: You are the Special Service, a SWAT like team. You cannot go SS and then change your job title to, for example "CIA Agent". You have to RP the SS job, unless the President says that the SS will now be called something else.
Police: You are a Police Officer. You cannot change your job to something like "CSI" or "FBI". You must RP a Police Officer's job. You can change it to "Traffic Officer" and so on, but within reason. If you wish to be a Detective, Private Investigator, undercover unit and whatnot, you can do so by going unemployed, making a custom job and speaking with the President.
For example, you can't be a Hitman or a Car thief.
You cannot raid under any reason. If you wish to have someone sorted, find a way to do so without getting involved yourself. For example, if as a gun dealer another gun dealer is stealing your customers, you can hire the mob to scare him.
[Hostage Rules]
Also cannot hostage someone in a public area. If you wish to hostage someone it must be for a very good reason. Just because the guy is not leaving your house isn't a reason to hostage him or kill him.
[Police Rules]
For example, do not taze someone just because he punched someone else, unless he's running. Always warn.
[Rebels/Mafia Rules]
You must ALWAYS have a good RP reason to kill someone.
[Vehicle Rules]
Exceptions are Police Cars blocking a street off during a gunfight, for example.
You cannot steal someone's vehicle because:
- Yours is far away
- You need to go somewhere.
- You want money.
- You don't have a car.
- You're a rebel and that car belongs to a Police Officer/Corleone.
- etc.
[Base Rules]
This includes props that let you "Look over" your wall, like a ramp to the top of the wall.
This is another rule that seems to be ignored. Rebels and Corleones don't really have huge bases. You should lie low and not attract a lot of attention.
This includes having small places from where to shoot. You cannot have solid concrete barriers inside a house for example, to defend yourself from attackers. You can have RP barricades, such as turned tables, sofas, etc.
Things that make a doomfort:
- Non logical props inside a house. For example, in an apartment you can't have a solid concrete barrier.
- A place where people will get stuck after they enter. For example, a door that when you enter leads you to a hallway with another door, having props on the side that allow people to shoot you, like for example fences, or gaps between props.
- etc.
Other things explained:
Reasons to kill someone.
There are very few valid reasons for killing someone. Killing someone because he punched you, because he's arresting your friend, because he's stealing your car, because he insulted you, etc... Is NOT a valid reason. You may only kill people with a very good reason, like in real life. It is very difficult to get a valid reason to kill someone, specially as regular citizens.
You may not kill a Police Officer / SS Agent just because he's arresting a friend. Killing an Officer in real life is a very serious thing. Just because "No one will find out" isn't a good enough motivation. In real life you would most likely be caught.
You may not kill someone in a public area unless having a very very good reason apart from a reason for killing him in the first place.
Things you shouldn't contact Admins for.
- You've been arrested and you think it's not fair. You must deal with situations as they evolve. We Admins aren't there so people can have the RP they want, but rather how it should be. If you got arrested, deal with it In Character. It's all part of the RP.
- Your car has been stolen (Unless you've seen the person break a rule doing it, for example, getting in when you unlocked it).
- The server crashed and you lost your contraband.
- etc.
Things you shouldn't advertise:
- Anything illegal at the time. This includes Black Market Dealers, drugs, contraband, having someone killed, etc.
- Asking something. If you wish to know the price of a fish don't advertise it, ask people.
- Saying things. You can't make an advert saying that the President is an idiot. That's not an advert.
Really, adverts should only be that. You must only use an advert to advertise something legal, or at least make it look legal. A BMD should not advertise he's selling Black Market items, but rather say, for example, that he's selling extra ordinary items.
- If someone's shooting at you or around you, do not run towards that person. If he's taking cover behind a car, do not run towards the car to try and go around it. RP being afraid, get cover and shoot from there.
Even if you do have a weapon, that does not mean you can "Ignore" Fear RP. For example if there's three people with weapons aiming at you, just because you have one out does not mean you can just shoot, act afraid and think.
- As Police or SS, do not shoot someone that's unarmed, even if he's getting away. Firing is the last resort. You cannot shoot someone that's inside a car just because he ran someone over. You may only shoot if he actually represents a threat to other people, for example, running over people on purpose.
- If you run someone over, RP it out unless a very good RP reason.
- BMD's don't make public shops.
- You may use your mic to play music in your car, aslong as it's low and audible. You must stop it if people complain though. If an Admin is online, ask permission first.
- You may not raid just for contraband, except the Government. You must have a good reason as to think why there should be contraband inside. For example, you saw it or heard it. Just because a friend told you isn't a good reason.
- When raiding as a Police Officer, call for backup. Don't attempt to raid a place on your own.
- As an officer, try to keep the Government informed through radio of your actions. If you've pulled someone over at Industrial, say it.
- As an Officer on pursuits do not attempt to constantly ram the other vehicle. Keep your distance, ask for backup and follow him always. Try to block him into a wall, for example.
- If a Police Officer tries to pull you over, do not flee unless you have a good reason. For example, it's not your car. Just because you don't want to stop is not a good enough reason.
- Do not tease officers to chase you just for fun.
