It is probably your graphics driver overheating.
Get a new one. Doesnt necessarily have to be the best though.

ATI readeon HD 5770 will go normaly

i have this video card and its not really laggy it can run mafia 2 on my computer smoothly and css smoothly and gmod 13,10,9 VERY SMOOTH

just buy that graphic card its not expencive and not cheap
