Vehicle System Overhaul
#1

Hello everyone!
It's time for another update. Today, in this update, is a vehicle system overhaul. This includes a new part-based damage system, better passenger seats (allowing seat switching and possibly more features in the future.), improved fuel system, a tow truck and more!

The vehicle damage system has been overhauled, making use of the VCMod part damage system. This generally makes vehicle damage a lot more realistic and less annoying. Shooting the body of the vehicle will now no longer damage the player, only the car. However, if you shoot the glass of the vehicle, the player and the passengers will take damage. (Depending on where in the window was shot). Shooting the tires of a vehicle will cause them to deflate and slow the vehicle down. Other parts that can be damaged are the engine and exhausts of a vehicle.

The health of the car and the damaged parts of the car are saved, so respawning your car will not magically repair the parts. The health, damaged parts and fuel of the car are displayed on the right side of your screen.

To repair your vehicle, you can either take it to a mechanic who can repair your car faster and cheaper than the repair stations at Car Parking and Outer BP. There are new items added for mechanics to manufacture and use on your car to repair it.

To repair your vehicle as a mechanic, you first want to pull out your blue wrench, not your red one. The blue wrench is what you will use. (It is in slot 6 and below tool gun)

With the blue wrench, hover over the vehicle you wish to repair and you will see red dots appear around the vehicle; these are the things that will need repairing.

Now, you will want to buy the part and press 'use' on it to spawn the part in. Once spawned, you can use your physgun or hands/keys and lift it over the vehicle and drop it. The part will then go into place and you can hold left click on the part to repair the part.

Now, a wire mesh will appear where the part has been placed.

To add the part, get your wrench and hold left click until it is repaired!

Now you have successfully repaired a part!

Adding more health to a vehicle

You can add more health to a vehicle with a mechanic or repair up to 30% of your vehicle using a toolbox if there are no mechanics online. To repair overall vehicle HP as a mechanic, all you have to do is go to where the engine is and repair it! Sometimes, you may need to buy an engine part, which can be expensive and take longer to repair. This is only if your vehicle explodes, so be careful! Mechanics are free to charge their own prices for repairs, just like all the other selling roles (eg. Gun dealer).

Another, quicker way of adding more health is by buying a toolbox. They work the same as they currently do. Buy > Use.

Another way of repairing your car is at Outer BP and City Parking, which costs more than a mechanic and takes longer. You can do this by pressing 'use' on the repair box.

A menu like this will appear and you can choose which parts to repair. Once done, click accept and wait patiently for your car to repair.

New commands: /repaircar - For staff to repair your vehicle if it has been prop pushed or damaged in an unfair way.

The next part of this update is the fuelling system overhaul. Refuelling your car is the same as before, drive up to the fuel station and wait. However, cars have a lot more fuel and will cost more. (side note: there’s three different fuel types, the fuel canister can refuel them all.)

This will tell you how much fuel you have and the fuel usage per hour. The bigger the vehicle, the larger the fuel tank. Some vehicles are more efficient than others, generally modern and smaller cars are a lot better than older and bigger ones!

Refuelling/Charging your car is exactly the same. Fuel now also is persistent, it won’t magically fill up anymore after storing it.

Passenger seats now use a new automated seat system. Not only does this save a lot of time if a new car is ever added, it also allows us to add seat switching! To switch seats, get in your car and press your number keys at the top all the way from 1 - 9 (0). Ejecting players is even easier too. To eject a player (as driver) press and hold your USE KEY (default alt) + 0 - 9 (Seat number to eject).

We have also added an improved spikestrip into the game which uses the new part-damage system to puncture wheels. To use them, get them from the arms locker and then equip them. Look at the ground and press Left Click. They will then spawn on the ground and you can press E to deploy or hold E to pickup.

The tow truck has been fixed and re-added with this update too. This is a mechanic exclusive vehicle available on the market for $1000.
