[Solved] Mic doesn't work in Gmod, works perfectly in other software
#1
I have ran into this very, very annoying problem. For no reason, my mic randomly stops working in Garry's Mod. This only happens in gmod, infact, when I test the microphone in Steam, it works.

Sometimes it doesn't work from the start and sometimes it stops working after some time.

I have no clue how to fix this and basic Google answers haven't helped me.

I find this problem if you mic is not inserted and/or the default device before you start GMOD.
This is also a problem with CS:GO. Possibly a source game thing?

Hope this helps.

Definitely a source engine problem. It's the default device, and still randomly stops working. Worked today, did not work yesterday, who knows when it stops working.

Are all of your drivers up-to-date?

Have you set the microphone as your default comms device?

Is there any program/firewall which could potentially be blocking your mic from working?

Also, out of curiosity what headset/mic do you have?

Is it an usb mic?

Some firewalls or programs can block it as Malibu stated in his write. Check out for that.

Yep.

Yep.

There should not be, as far as I know.

Some generic (20€) mic. Not a headset mic, though.

You mentioned that it was working the last time you updated, has it stopped working recently since your last post?
