[Solved] [FIX] How to fix your microphone not working
#1
Is your microphone not working when you hold the talk key?
Hopefully these fixes should work!

Solution 1: Making sure the microphone is default device

To make sure your microphone is your default device, follow these steps.

Step 1: Right click the little icon on your task bar which looks like this: [Image: 9e088b3a5631ace872ec4ea1c0f372f9.png]
Step 2: Click 'Recording Devices'
Step 3: Right click your microphone and click 'set as default device' and 'set as default communication device'
Step 4: Restart Garry's Mod

Right click the little speaker icon in your task bar and click recording devices

Solution 2: Beta mode

I have seen this solution work on someone else, it may work on you!
To enter beta mode, ensure Garry's Mod is closed. Right click Garry's Mod then go to Betas and click the drop down and click 'Beta'

Note: Ignore the private code. I couldn't click on it as I was in game, but when you click on it, it should bring a drop down box.

Solution 3: Verifying your game cache

This may sound stupid, but can possibly work. To Verify your game cache, right click Garry's Mod, the click Properties then go to 'local files' then click 'Verify integrity of game'
Ensure Garry's Mod is closed when doing this.

Solution 4: Reinstalling Garry's Mod

If none of these steps work, reinstall Garry's Mod, to do so Right click Garry's Mod then 'Uninstall'
Once uninstalled reinstall the game and test your microphone!

Tip: To check if your microphone works, go onto Garry's Mod then click option then 'Voice' and click 'Test Microphone' and then speak!

Things that worked for me in the past:

- Restarting the computer/laptop
- Making sure the volume on your microphone is up and it is enabled in steam
- Make sure it isn't muted (I've made that mistake a few times and it's stupid, i know.)

My mic sucks, to make it sound better I lower the microphone boost a touch. It helps a lot for me.

Restarting the computer can be the solution 1.
It is the easiest waySmile
