Whenever I open my console, my game crashes.

Title pretty much says it all, I've tried re-binding it but the same thing happens, I assume it's something to do with the game files.

This is a temp fix (graphics will look a bit... meh)

Main Menu - Addons - Disable Addons

Then go to console and type in: mat_dxlevel 90
Re-enable addons

I had this problem once before.

Like Greed said mat_dxlevel 90 is a temp fix.

I solved it by uninstalling TF2. Not sure if it will work for you though.

I had the same issue on my old PC. I remember it working properly again after I wanted to fix the ATMOS mod.
Maybe the thing you had to do to fix the mod is the same thing you have to do to fix this bug.
Just go ahead and try this:


- Go to Steam - > Library - > Right click Gmod - > Properties - > Set Launch Options
- Put only this in here: -dxlevel 95

To many addons caused this for me before. Lowering your dxlevel doesn't do anything. Un-subscribe from all your addons via garrymods or workshop. if you have portal mounted also, this can happen.
