Mic won't activate on GMOD

My mic works fine, however when I press X nothing happens (the name in the bottom left dosen't even appear)

The key is binded correctly. It only happens on gmod.

Also, when I go to "test mic" on the options in gmod is stops after 1 second so isn't that isn't working either.

Any ideas?

Have you set your microphone as the default in windows?
