The Rules - Explained Further
#1
I made this guide based off of my own personal view of the understanding of rules, also off of the fact that many people don't seem able to fully comprehend them. The following text will explain some general in-game terms and provide clarification on some of the more confusing ones.

I won't be listing all of them here, just the ones I've seen to be most misunderstood.

[General Rules]

1. Using cheats, hacks or abusing glitches is under zero tolerance and will lead to a permanent ban.

- That means do not even connect to the server with any file that alters game-play (ESP, wallhack, aimbot etc.). Our anti-cheat system will report you and you will be banned without a chance to appeal.

5. Listen to the admin's decisions, they aren't negotiable.

- If you disagree with a decision an administrator/moderator has made, post an unban/unblacklist/admin abuse thread. Do not start spamming PMs and OOC about how you think it should have been handled. The staff has been picked for a reason, they are given the trust to enforce the rules.

7. An admin request message (@ command) should contain useful information such as the reason you need help. Non-informative, aggressive or caps-locked messages will get you kicked.

- Messages such as (but not limited to): "admin 2 me", "come here". "teleport 2 me" are not allowed and will not speed the process of someone coming to help you. An example of a good message would be: "Would you come here, someone is propkilling". Adding a reason to the message allows the staff to prioritize, messages without a reason will be put to the bottom of the queue.

11. Do not jump or walk on anyone in ragdoll mode.

- Jumping/walking over people in ragdoll mode causes damage to them, thus is not allowed.

13. Follow FearRP. You can't attack a person who has a gun (or tazer) pointed at you, while you are unarmed, you must roleplay being afraid of the gun.

- When someone has a gun/tazer pointed at you, you are to obey the commands of that person. No running away, punching him/her or similar.
-When someone has a gun pointed at you from a relatively small distance 10m> while you are in a vehicle, if you are asked to step out, you will do so. In real life the window of a car can't exactly stop a bullet.
-When you are facing an opposing team who have hostaged people (government - citizens or other government, Rebels/Corleones - Their respective members/leader) you are not to charge in and shoot everything. The raiders are supposed to be afraid for the lives of the hostages and are supposed to negotiate.

[OOC and IC Rules]

1. Do not Metagame, that means don't talk in OOC ( Out Of Character) while in IC (In Character).

- Example of metagaming - saying "Let's meet at AM/PM" or "Guns for sale" in OOC. Another example is saying this: "What's your Steam name?" in IC chat.

8. Do not use OOC to call an admin. Use the @ command.

- Using @ makes the message more visible. Using OOC will not help your problem.

[Tools/Props Rules]

3. Do not propblock anything, there should be a keypad or button to reach the area/items.

- If it's a prop that blocks any sort of access and not a fading door (with buttons/keypads on both sides) it's considered propblocking. Even if you are in the process of building as soon as you put a fading door down, make sure it's accessible.

5. You may not build in a public area unless an admin gave you permission.

- A public area is generally considered everything that's not within purchasable property (such as the MTL). You need to ask for permission every time you're making something, before you start building.

[Door Rules]

1. Do not build more than 2 custom doors which are not public in a row. Your friend's doors are counted as well.

- That means that no point in your base/house/build can have 3 or more custom doors leading to it.

[Job Rules]

1. When you go AFK for more than 5 minutes you must switch to unemployed.

- Going AFK while being a job will lead to a demotion/blacklist.

5. You cannot raid as a Doctor, Chef, Gundealer, BMD, Taxi driver, or Security guard. For any of these jobs you cannot base with rebels, corleones, or any other group of specific people. Do not make a contra base as any of these jobs as the purpose of these jobs is to provide a service for the city, not lock themselves in a room and "contra whore".

- No raiding whatsoever as these jobs, without exception. You cannot live/build with a specific group of people (police,Corleones, rebels etc.). You are not allowed to have a base of any kind. You can have a shop/apartment in which you may have contraband. You must ALWAYS do your job, no excuses. Example: As a Gun Dealer I will have contraband stashed in the back room of my store, but will always be up front, serving the customers.

[Basic Government Rules]

2. Do not randomly search houses for contraband.

- Valid reasons for searching usually are (but not limited to): Seeing contraband, hearing contraband, seeing/hearing weapons, assaults etc. If you raid a base/house/apartment without a valid reason, you will be punished.

[Police Rules]

5. NLR still applies even if you are told to head back (to the place you died) over the radio.

- You are allowed to go back to the raid you died in if:
- You have been called back by a survivor
- The timer has expired and you do not take personal vengeance against your killer.
- Raids are monitored and if an administrator/moderator tells you to stop coming back, obey that command.

[Rebels/Mafia Rules]

4. Different teams are created for a reason do not join other teams, for example rebels don't join mafia.

-You cannot raid/base with the Corleones as a rebel and vice versa. You can be peaceful with them, but not allied.

[Vehicle Rules]

4. When your car is stuck, call an admin. You can gently try to move it with a prop if required. When your car is upside down you should use /flip to flip it.

- Calmly contact an admin and ask him to store it for you or move it. In case the car is stuck in the ground/wall do not attempt to move it, as it might glitch out and cause death.

13. Do not climb on your car, this is considered as propclimbing.

- Even if it's "just to see over the fence" it's propclimbing and will be punished.

[Base Rules]

1. Walls used to surround a base can’t be higher than around 4 meters/13 feet.

That means that a 4 x ? prop is the tallest you can build walls. Higher walls are not allowed.

2. Don’t walk on the walls and don’t build walkways on them.

- Any sort of platform sticking out of the wall to allow movement is considered a walkway.

7. All buildings in the main city street and all obvious shops are reserved for passive RP. Do not base here.

- Example: do not make a contraband base in the Offices.

9. Doom forts are not allowed. This means you cannot make it hard for the opposing force to raid you. (ex: mazes, having to crouch or jump over props, small firing holes.)

- A base is considered a doom fort if it has some (or any) of the following details: Sniper towers, walkways, small firing holes, mazes made using fences or similar, crouch/jump gates etc.

You are supposed to use common sense when following the rules, as they can't cover every situation. In case you are not sure, ask an administrator/moderator, it's much easier to wait for an answer than waiting a ban out.

General terms - The following list contains some of the general terms that a player might encounter on our servers and may or may not be aware of.

Minge - A player who intentionally ruins other people's RP and generally intentionally breaks the rules to cause chaos.

Double-dooring - When a fading door is placed on top of a world door, in order to create an added layer of defense. This is not allowed.

RDM - Random death match. When someone is killed without a valid RP reason*.

CDM - Car death match. When someone is killed by a vehicle.

Random raid - A raid without a valid RP reason**.

Powergaming - Creating a situation where the other players involved have no other RP option. Example: You show a fake ID, which is "impossible to trace", you show a police officer's badge (when not an officer/working for the government) etc.

* Not valid RP reasons: An insult, an opinion, an arrest on your friend, anything that is generally deemed an overreaction and which would not lead to murder in real life.
** Not valid RP reasons: Generally similar to RDM, including: Raiding solely for contraband, raiding because of someone's job or clan (unless in a clan war), raiding for a poor RP reason ("Because I'm a criminal" is not a valid reason unless RPed properly)

If walking on a ragdolled body is against the rules, why is it even possible? I replied this in a suggestion too, why enable it if it's against the rules? And it's not realistic at all.

Thanks for pointing it out. That also means you've read at least a part of the text which makes me satisfied.

Looks good.

Random raid - A raid without a valid RP reason.
RDM - Random death match. When someone is killed without a valid RP reason.

Both of these create the most grief within the server because everyone has their own views on how exactly these rules are enforced. Would you care you explain what you see as a legitimate raid or legitimate deathmatch?

Updated the thread.

Raiding for contraband is the only reason you would be raiding, so it's unreasonable to state, "You shouldn't raid for just contra" also people have killed for much more minor things. Hell, I've seen people get shot for simply pulling over a drunk driver.

Clarification: Why cannot one raid for contraband, is this not the primary reason people get raided in the first place? They get caught with the most illegal thing on the server and have, by placeing it down, agreed they may get raided for it by the playerbase. It almost seems like disallowing raids against contra farmers is setting up the old ban sheild, before contra sounds there was almost no way to catch the farmers and usualy you would see bans for random raiding as they had no legitimate way to find their contra. Making it a bannable offence to raid due to them having contraband is the same sheild once used by farmers, because now they know that one cannot raid them just because they found their contraband, they have almost no reason to fear it being discovered and may farm freely.
It seems counterproductive
