HL2.exe is not working

Hey, this has only been happening recently, but when i try to join the server it can take up to 10 minutes then it closes Gmod and sends me a message saying "HL2.exe is not working" i have to keep doing this loads to finally connect to the server and it can sometimes take me an hour to join.

Is anybody else having this problem?
Please post below if you know how to fix this.

Step1: restart steam if not already done.
Step2: restart computer
Step3: try some other mod or half life 2 to see if it is gmod or a problem with source
Step4: reinstall gmod then if still not working reistall which ever source you have e.g half life counter strike......

ur not the only one me to but its only for the FL server lol all the rest work fine lol

It happens to me too, but I know what to do. After starting GMod, load EvoCity in singleplayer. Then you can join the server without problems.

This fixes it.

Should be fixed with Garry's next update.

Imma close this - as the loading singleplayer first then joining from there fixes this problem
