If you want an advice, either get a GTX 460 or if you can afford, a GTX 560Ti
The 550ti isn't a bad card at all. It's a entry-mid level graphics card. I can happily run high demanding games such as Arma II on High Detail settings at 1080p. I bought my 550ti awhile back but i also have a 560ti, the 560ti is a good card and isn't much more expensive than the 550ti. It's well worth spending the extra buck on the 560ti. Or at least benchmarks prove.
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/3323...mshardware The thing is I only had a budget of about £100, Thats why I got the 550 ti

I had a GainWard GTX 550Ti, poor card had it's processor OC'ed at 1000 Mhz and was like 50 degrees on Idle.
Ingame it died once on Battlefield 3 due to overheating. It's a GTS 450 forced alot, it won't last too much.
The next day I gave it back, payed 50$ and got a GTX 560Ti which rapes.

I have the gtx 550 Ti. I mean, it does the job, I am pretty freaking demanding when it comes to graphics though, so I'm getting the gtx 680 this summer.
It's not a bad card though, but I would suggest at least getting the gtx 560.

If you have at least a 600-650W PSU, you really shouldn't have to upgrade, that is if you want a GTX 680. The GTX 560 does not draw that much power either, it really all depends on the number of pin connector's on the card.
Such as the PCI-E slot takes 75 W
A 6 pin takes about 75W
A 4 pin takes about 50W? (Not all too positive on that)
Im running a GTX 560 Ti 448 Core 1.25GB card currently. Getting on max settings on Metro 2033 with bout 40-50 FPS steady. That being one of the more demanding games, it stands fairly close to the GTX 570. Other than that, I run almost all my games on Max settings with no problems. On all source mods, I hit the cap of 300 FPS and just stay there with slight variation from 298-300.
