Well, I just bought a new computer after I sold the old iMac. Amazingly, the new computer was cheaper than the selling price of the iMac even though its around 10x more powerful. Hipsters for you, eh. My first build also.
Motherboard: Gigabyte UD4 P67
CPU: i5-2500k Intel Sandybridge 3.3ghz (non OC, can easily bump huge amounts if I want to though)
CPU cooler: Coolermaster Hyper 212+ (Cools awesomely, and I can even add another fan to it or as I have a huge case, buy a massive on if I ever want a 9000ghz overclock)
Thermal paste: Arctic MX4
HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB, also external 500GB perma attached
GPU: AMD XFX Radeon 6950 (So fast, also its exactly the same card as a 6970, just different firmware, and thanks to dualBIOS I can unlock an extra 200 or so cores with an easy flash in the future
)
Memory: 8GB g.Skill RipjawsX 1600mhz DDR3
Optical drive: Some samsung DVDRW
Keyboard: Sidewinder X4
Mouse: Logitech MX518
Speakers: Harmon Kardon somethingorother, very nice though, have them jacked in
OS: 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Case: Coolermaster HAF 932
Excellent for photoshop, gaming and music production so far, I'm loving it
