But this is the arguement. It can be said in so many contexts and it would still be unclear as to whether it is offensive or used as a "saying". As far as I am concerned, the word is nasty and disgusting and should be dealt with as such.

I can honestly not see how a once stereotype-like word aimed at slaves years ago can be used in a positive/friendly context. Nope.
