Yep I know I have been here quite awhile but still is there anywhere on the forum that shows how many hours I have in-game for when I apply for to events and stuff.

Hmm.. WELL! Yes there is. A makeshift way is to make a "signature" in the character tab, create a small one and just look there.
I am unaware of any other ways to find out, and would love to learn. What I do however is look at my hours right when I leave and record it in my head. (I have amazing remembering skills).

The most likely reason why the Character tab wouldn't work at that time would be due to the current attacks.
