[Content] Ambient Sound Removal (v33x) [Updated]
#1
Personally I found the ambient sounds on v33x (recently) to be slightly overpowering at times.

So I decided to "replace" most of the ambient sounds with blank .wav files.
Content: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3608.../sound.zip
Just extract it to: Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod

(it's the same sort of thing that SoulRipper posted regarding the dog, except mine does a lot more)

This removes most of the annoying ambient sounds throughout the map, such as:
-Birds
-Dogs
-Coughs
-Creaking sounds
-Explosions (this does not apply to PvP situations)
-Firefights (this does not apply to PvP situations)
-Riots
-Vehicle sounds in the distance (this does not apply to spawned vehicles)
-Wind
-+ many other random sounds around the map

You will still hear "splashes" at the lake and also hear the "submerged" sound when swimming in it.

Green - No ambient sounds (at all)
Orange - *Updated* - Removed most sounds except for a plane that you hear now and again
Red - *Updated* - Same as orange but has 1 extra ambient sound (not sure what it's called)
Dark red (apartments) - *Updated* - Same as red but also has another random sound (that I am unsure what it is)

There are a few extra .wav files in the zip that are not used on v33x, this is because I wanted them as I play other game modes and couldn't be bothered removing them for the zip.
(you can feel free to remove the ones you do not need though)

[Disclaimer]
You cannot hold me responsible if you go completely insane whilst in the green zone due to how quiet it is.

Note that this doesn't 'replace' any sound files for gmod itself.
If you remove a blank .wav (or all of them), then the sound will return.

Q: Why doesn't this work for me?
A: You most likely unzipped the file in the wrong place, make sure you unzip it in: Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod

Q: It's too quiet, how can I remove this?
A: Go to the place where you unzipped the file and remove the 'Sound' folder (or remove each .wav file individually).

Q: Why is your name on all of the files?
A: I used audacity for the .wav files and it used my blank template when I saved it.

Q: Is there a virus in this?
A: No (Why would I upload a virus to my own dropbox folder?)

Q: Will this work on v2d?
A: Yes

Q: Do you have any examples of this?
A: Yes:

Sounds a lot better in the city and apartments now Smile

If you're unsure what this does, then here are two videos that should help you understand:

Forgot to update this Tounge

Anyhow, it now also works on v2d and I removed a few more sounds from v33x Smile

If you want the elevator sound back on v2d then remove the following file:
Steam\SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\sound\plats\skylift_move.wav

The dog should be muted in this pack.
but if you only want the dog sound muted, then you can either use Souls fix or sub my workshop addon: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/fi...=520636892
