Ad bots - Ms. Mudpie - 02-04-2012

I'm reading threads on replica sunglasses and learning how to speak English. Did the registration system suddenly become a whole lot less secure or something?

Agreed. I thought of Jar Jar Binks with that sentence too :3

The problem really is that bots keep getting smarter, there are more and more spam stuff I keep removing every day.

I recently added more Security Questions which helped a bit but it's not really getting better.
We've got a good captcha, Security Questions, if you have any good suggestions what to add tell me Tounge.

Maybe some e-mail activation system that basically every single major community forum has nowadays?

RE: Ad bots - 7rozen_7ear_ - 02-05-2012

Or just an overly complicated formula to be put in the CMD wich changes every day. A linux community I once joined a linux community using such thing (except that it needs to be put in the terminal), namely: "date -u +%W$(uname)|sha256sum|sed 's/\W//g'". Another idea is to ask for the binary notation of one's name (corresponding to their suggested user name), like "001101110111001001101111011110100110010101101110010111110011011101100101011000010111001001011111" for "7rozen_7ear_". Another option is asking the md5 of a random word (i.e. "Fearless" -> 28af29c3fcfa1b71d38c69c1e52a17f1) as a registration requirement. I believe bots can't work their way around such things nowadays, or things will at least become harder for bots made to be used on several platforms.

P.S. I left out the name of the linux community on purpose.

Great idea. I think we could add something like this... easy questions about the theory of relativity, time travel, how to cure AIDS or we could make them enter the longest prime number with 9.1 million numbers.
An easy way would also be to make them write down the four roots of a quartic polynomial equation, really everybody should be able to do that, or even easier, just write down all digits of pi?

I found one like this

I think it should work out.
