Getting this laptop in a week, thoughts? - GRiiM - 04-06-2012
I'm buying a Dell XPS 17 for mainly for gaming and 3D modelling as I couldn't take my Desktop PC when I move to University hopefully later this year. The desktop PC was old anyway and in need for an upgrade.
It's cost about £800 plus I will be replacing one of the HDDs with a 256GB SSD.

You chose Nvidia and Intel... I'm proud of you.
Anyways, seems like a great build, definitely will do you good. Dam, I don't think there are any good deals like that where I live.

Im running AMD and Nvidia, there is really no difference.
Anyhow,
Graphic card looks a bit week, if you want to do something more than play Garry's Mod. 570M or 580M are some decent graphic cards for laptops, but you do miss out on what its named mainly because they drop things for the mobility and power. Laptops can be fairly weak on rendering and such mainly as they generate so much heat and use so little power.

I believe Intel is better, though I am just a Intel fanboy.
Maybe the performance is probably around the same.
