There's also two more technical ways of pulling this off, but with quicker results and no external media.
Following the steps of Method #1 is the quickest way of getting Windows 10. No license key troubles, no external media, no errors (hopefully :p)
Method #1:
Enable show hidden folders and navigate to: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download and press Ctrl+A to select everything and delete it. (Not harmful if you do this as written)
Open start menu, type cmd and right click the result (icon is a small black box) and run as administrator. Type wuauclt.exe/updatenow and hit enter.
In the start menu, type windows update and open it up (Should be in control panel too if you prefer to get to it that way) and you should be able to start downloading and installing Windows 10!
Method #2 (Tech Savvy people only recommended, not recommended in general):
Hit windowskey + R and type regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\OSUpgrade
If it doesn't exist, create the path.
Create a new DWORD (32-bit) Value with Name = "AllowOSUpgrade” (without the quotes), and set the Value = 0x00000001.
Open Windows Update and you should be able to download/install W10.

Looks like the best Windows since XP, pretty good so far.

Make sure you're running the setup .exe logged into an administrator account. Just giving it access through UAC is not sufficient. That's what happened to me when I tried to run it logged in to a standard account through UAC.
