Doubt this is an issue with being on a Mac. It may be addon/download conflicts or something of the like.

Try deleting the following folders from your gmod folder (SteamApps/common/GarrysMod/garrysmod/):
  • Addons
  • Downloads
  • Download
Then open up your game and reconnect to the server.
If this doesn't work, can you post your crash log? This should be at the root of the gmod folder, and named according to the date and time with the extension .mdmp.

It seems to be an issue with the Mac version, sadly. Extremely common, probably down to using a different renderer to windows version.

Bootcamp is the way to go for gaming, sadly.

(Also asked Sparx how he does it: bootcamp)

Unfortunately, Mac has so many problems with gaming environments due to the poor software development and compatibility. GMod has made so many patches in releases aimed at Mac users (check the gmod update logs). That, plus the depth of things thrown together in the CityRP gamemode due to its age and instability, probably tips Macs over the edge. Bootcamp would be your best answer.
