run the factory reset script found C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod on windows, for mac no idea where to find it but it still does exist, this will delete all your maps for you, and a bunch of other stuff. after running this verify Gmod on steam and when its done that and re-downloaded the missing bits, join the server and it will download the correct version of the map while joining
