Friend having issues joining.

Hi everyone, so my friend's having some issues joining the server, I'm going to copy and paste exactly what he said.
Keep in mind he's on a Mac, if that makes any difference.

my server overtime i try to join it gets to the point of downloading /server/spawnlist/rp_evo_city.txt.bz2 then stops no progression i have deleted everything even every steam file i had wiped it all clean tried to rejoin subscribed to everything downloaded everything gets to that same point then stops

If you guys can respond as soon as possible, it'd be much appreciated.

Does it time out? I have had people who were using low-class internet that basically couldn't handle downloading all
the content and just timed out.

Nope, it just sits there and doesn't download.

Try to disable all content downloaded from server, check Gmod options.
