They tried to do the same in our College at my Level 3 IT course, We just got into their system and deleted the blocking software from our computers. Not a single blocked page anymore Wink

Wow, your college's filtering software must of sucked. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr etc aren't blocked at my college. Some other website are if you are under 18. They keep an eye on us IT students due to past events. We just use proxies though, easiest way to go.
