In regards to the previous post involving the British Police Officer with the MP5, he is a regular police officer in the sense that he has the same powers as every Tom, Dick 'n' Harry on the bob.
He is different to the causual officer because he is trained on how to use a firearm.
It's difficult to say whether or not he is part of the British Police's version of America's "SWAT" which is called SO19, as he may well be. Those type of officers do not patrol as they are Strictly an armed Response and roll up like this: https://www.google.com/search?q=co19&biw...jPvKB_M%3A
Currently due to the hightened security threat, officer's in high threat area's around the country such as various parts of London and other places like Windsor Castle, have these guys patrolling the streets with firearms but not in full combat uniform.
So if on the server the President felt that it was necessary to put the SRU on patrol then that would be more to the point of realism however the SRU player model is them dressed up ready to party so i can see how there is much debate on the subject.
